Mohamad Fawaz is a researcher in political science and international relations. He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University. He currently serves as a senior researcher at the Recode Research Center and as a researcher at Al-Sharq Strategic. He is also the editorial and research producer of the Al-Sharq Podcast.
His research focuses on international relations—particularly in the Levant—alongside Lebanese affairs and their regional and international intersections, as well as electoral dynamics in Lebanon and the wider region. Fawaz has developed advanced expertise in the study of Islamist movements in Lebanon. His Master’s thesis focused on al-Jama‘a al-Islamiyya, a topic he has also explored in several research papers and a podcast episode.
He writes in both Arabic and English for various research institutions, including the Carnegie Middle East Center and Ru’ya magazine, published by the SETA Foundation.
In addition to his research work, Fawaz co-founded several youth initiatives in Lebanon, most notably UNIFIND, the country’s first digital platform for university guidance.
